Golden Ears Provincial Park Engagement Photos - Maple Ridge, B.C.

In my years as a wedding photographer, I’ve gotten the chance to hear many stories about how couples get together. With Jordan and Maria, they met online and after only a week or so of chatting, they decided to meet at a restaurant in Vancouver for their first official date. M wasn’t completely convinced right away and definitely made him work a little harder for her heart, but it paid off. In December of 2018, they spent the evening together and ended up at Jordan’s place. When she opened the door, there were hearts strung up all around the room and when Maria turned around to see what was going on, she was met with Jordan down on his knee with a ring. It can take a special person to open your heart and sometimes, it takes a little bit of a search to find that someone who brings out the best in you.

We decided on Golden Ears Provincial Park for their engagement photos. The two of them share a passion for beautiful backdrops and natural spaces so what better place than in our own majestic forests? This was also the first time that I was able to shoot in this spot and my, oh my, it did not disappoint. We first explored the Spirea Trail. The towering trees in this area definitely sheltered us away from the sun, but there were also spots that let some of those golden rays peek through creating a gorgeous effect. I think my favourite spots during the shoot were areas along the North Beach trail were we could photograph by Gold Creek. The green and blue colour palette brings to mind a certain type of serenity that can only be found in nature and the calmness of the water seemed to highlight the closeness between Jordan and Maria. I loved being able to photograph them in this amazing location and their outfits complemented each spot perfectly!
