Ahhhh, who can resist a classic story of modern courtship? Not me! And so the story of Kevin and Colleen has found its way into my favourites section. They had met years prior at church, Kevin having come back from university and Colleen on the brink of leaving for post-secondary. Their paths crossed but only for a moment, and it was years later that they met again, this time with neither of them going away for anything, and this time with a mutual interest for the other where there was none before.

Colleen had come back to town after an educational stint and after having a chance to spend more time together through various church events, they both developed a bit of an interest for each other. It was at one of these young adult trips in late fall that they realized this, but didn’t have the guts to share that with each other just yet. Months later, they went on their first date, and let me tell you the genius of this plan. Kevin planned to take her out for coffee in the afternoon with the idea in mind that if it went well, they could continue the conversation at dinner and if it didn’t go well…it would end there. Needless to say, they had coffee and they went to dinner later on…(it went well!)

Their beautiful wedding began at New Westminster Christian Reformed Church where both of their families attend. I always love it when there’s a personal connection to the place you get married. It’s actually pretty cool because Kevin is one of four kids and all of his siblings got married there as well! For their reception, they chose to host a celebration at Fort Langley Community Hall. Nestled in the quaint village community of Fort Langley, this picturesque historic site stands as a beautiful heritage site. I was so delighted to finally be able to photograph a wedding there!
